Creating home, right from the start
We strive to create places where people feel comfortable and at home in their neighborhoods, and can live their lives and share meaningful experiences with neighbors, friends and family in ways that matter most to them. We believe that in the world today, people struggle more than ever to find time in their lives to connect with others, and to create opportunities to just enjoy life, whatever that means to them.
Friends and family can enjoy amenities such as recreation centers, social infrastructure, mixed-use commercial, special “third places”, signature niche retail, and work/play spaces, like community hot spots and business centers – or they can simply relax, knowing these opportunities are there if they need.
After what typically takes decades to develop, under our current envisioning process we intentionally design our communities so they “feel like home” right from the start. We like to call it the “there” there, and we believe it is what really makes a community home.
Life is Good® Pumpkin Festivals

In 2006, Newland held one-day fall pumpkin festivals in 18 of its communities from California to Maryland. These festivals were free to attend and gave residents a chance to take part in pumpkin carving, scarecrow stuffing, face painting and musical entertainment.
In addition to offering our residents a fun autumn event, the festivals raised over $400,000 for various charities. At the events, funds were raised through the sale of specially designed Life is good® t-shirts, donations and food sales. As well, many attendees purchased jack-o-lanterns carved with hearts.
