About Symphony Park

As the project manager of Symphony Park (formerly Union Park) for the city of Las Vegas, Newland Communities oversees the design and implementation, overall marketing and execution of the business plan and secures third-party development agreements for the parcels comprising Symphony Park, a 61-acre mixed-use urban development in the heart of downtown Las Vegas. Symphony Park is located approximately four miles from the 'Las Vegas Strip' and eight miles from McCarran International Airport. Major freeways are nearby and a rapid transit serves the neighborhood.

Symphony Park is planned to feature hotels, restaurants, shopping, office and medical facilities. A true mixed-use development, Symphony Park defines the very essence of downtown living and will deliver the first modern-day city neighborhood in Las Vegas.

Approximately 3,100 housing units are planned for Symphony Park. A variety of urban-style residences, offering a wide range of housing, including apartments, low- and high-rise condominiums, street-level townhomes, live/work residences and mid-rise lofts will be complemented by conveniences including retail at street level. Other nearby amenities include the downtown entertainment district; Las Vegas Premium Outlets; as well as the downtown arts district and historic buildings.

The entire community will be designed and built to ensure its sustainability for present and future generations. Symphony Park is the only project in the state of Nevada to be accepted in the LEED® for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) national pilot program. It was awarded Stage 2 Gold level LEED-ND certification status by the U.S. Green Building Council in July 2008. Third-party developers will also contribute to the sustainability of the community with their individual buildings required to achieve LEED New Construction certification.

The planned signature projects within Symphony Park include:

  • The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, a $475 million David M. Schwarz-designed world-class performing arts center that is the city's first and future home to the Las Vegas Philharmonic and the Nevada Ballet.
  • Symphony Park, a 2+ acre central park within the heart of the project.
  • Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, Frank Gehry-designed building, anchor to the medical/office district, international research facility for neurogenerative diseases.
  • The World Jewelry Center, trade tower as well as gem and jewelry-focused retail center.
  • The Charlie Palmer, planned 400-room luxury boutique hotel with signature restaurant by celebrated chef and hospitality entrepreneur.
  • A planned 1.6 million square foot hotel/casino/entertainment and retail complex.
  • Future medical, educational, business and hospitality brands on remaining parcels.
